How to describe music to get the right track
Start with the job, not the genre
“Background music for a cosmetics promo” sets the tempo, the mood and the level of detail all at once. A genre alone, with no job attached, is the surest way to a track that fits nowhere.
Name the instruments
The model hears specifics well: “acoustic guitar and ukulele”, “upright bass and brushed drums”, “warm synth pads”. Three or four instruments give a more predictable result than a long list.
Describe the mood and the tempo
“Calm and unhurried”, “upbeat and confident”, “dark and tense” work better than BPM numbers. If the tempo matters precisely, say both.
Say what should not be there
“No vocals”, “no drums”, “no abrupt transitions” — direct bans work as reliably as they do in image prompts. Vocals matter most: under a voice-over they get in the way.
Prepare the track for the edit
A generated piece is a finished fragment, not an endless loop. For a long video, take several versions of one request and stitch them in the edit, ducking the music under the lines.

Can I get a track with vocals?
